Dune Bashing in Doha

Yesterday, 21st September 2009, i got the opportunity to visit the local beach here. It's about 45 minutes drive out of Doha.

The beach was packed with weekenders especially the Indian community. As it was the Eid weekend and i guess these guys are taking the opportunity to unwind at the beach.


The water is clear but i can't say the same about the beach. Some rocky patch and rubbish are everywhere.

There was no facilities available to change or to take shower afterwards, so i didn't bother to take a swim at all.

Went to the location with Agnes, Ramish and his wife Karen and their son Pravin. Erich and his with Claudia and their son Nicholas came along.

We ended up doing some sand dune bashing using quad-bikes ... mine was a 160cc Suzuki bike and it cost 100 riyal per hour. The 200cc bikes that Ramisha nd Erich got costs around 150 riyal per hour.




It was a hot day and the temperature was hovering around 39 deg. celcius. Looking at the magnificient dune formations are located here and it makes dune bashing even more exciting and worthwhile.
